Where am I now?

I am now in Dublin.

Land of Guinness

And the ever famous Spire. I called it the huge 'jarum' (needle in Malay).

Supposed to bathe now, but there's no hot water at the moment. Since I have some time to spare... time to update my blog!

With reference to my previous posts, I received loads of concerns from everyone. To everyone who took their time to actually read my 'ahma' length stories, thank you very much! Kam Sia! Didn't know that I was so loved... hahaha

1 of my dear reader asked (actually more than 1) whether I will be afraid if the actual parties involved came across my blog.

The answer is... No, I'm not scared. In fact, if they see it, it might be good for them as well. They will know never ever to mess with me again, and most importantly (and hopefully) change their working attitude.

Right, back to my Dublin travels. This is my 2nd trip to Dublin. I actually walked around pretty much of Dublin in my last trip. This trip was mainly to meet people whom I've not met for a very long long time. So it's more of a relaxing, makan and chit chat trip. Caught up with some old friends, managed to update my antenna (and also update theirs) for the BBC Gossip Channel.

That bit is boring so I will omit that. I just watched a movie called "Changeling". I think it's quite a slow show. I was checking my watch after the first 40 mins of the show.

Tell me... why so sian???

I thought it was an thriller, so it should be SCARY and have loads of action.

The 'scariest' part of the show will be the part where they chop up the bodies. And it wasn't like really really scary. I would rate it "Happy Tree Friends version" minus the cuteness.

In short, go stream it online, don't waste your money to watch it in a cinema.

End of story. I think there should be hot water now. Till then, baa woof!

More details of the trip in my next blog entry, after I finish my stupid essay. Till then, baa woof!

Dumbledore!

I went to Goose fair with Susan that day... and guess who I saw???

Professor Dumbledore!

And no he wasn't teaching transfiguration or anything. He was... selling Harry Potter collectible cutlery. For just GBP4.50, you can get a butter knife, 1 tablespoon, 1 fork and 1 teaspoon, with the HP emblem etched at the handle.

And for us, the guy offered GBP4 coz we are very enthusiastic fans. Ok lar, reality is he wants to balik rumah so if he sells the final sets, then he can go home! I saw the Golden Snitch at first, but it was not for sale. Awww... too bad lar. So since I cannot get it, must take picture lor. With Dumbledore in his half-moon rim spectacles!

Actually quite paiseh that day. The guy have to pose with 3 different people, doing the same pose just to sell 2 sets of the cutlery. In the end, Susan and the guy called Jim (a.k.a. the Blind Date Guy) bought it, at GBP3.50! Good bargain, but then again I want to save money so didn't buy. Imagine how many McVities chocolate digestives I can buy with GBP3.50!

Speaking of biscuits... I've been snacking on them for the past few days. I've finished the Sainsburys chocolate chip cookies within a week! haha like what Aik Wye said, girls DO have something with chocolate digestives. Ok my tummy is hungry! It's McVities time!

The Scottish Accent

Since Ee Wan raised this up, then I shall blog about it.

Actually, Scottish accent is pretty easy to spot. The tone they speak... they just go down and up, and down and up... fairly simple actually. Just imagine taking a rollercoaster. Those ppl in the Midlands tend to go up and down. Irish people, I think Yan Leng can describe it better. Ee Wan, I really dunno how to demonstrate this but you can google it if you are really interested. hahaha

Also, Scotts tend to speak 'Yes' as 'Aye'! Aye aye Captain Jack!

As for the 'r's, they tend to pronounce is as 'l'. Aye, it sound like Japanese, but it is not. So let's say the word 'morag', you take away the 'r' and replace it with an 'l', so it will be pronounced as 'molag'. Ok get it? Try the above and see whether you can fool an authentic Scottish. hahahaha

Unfortunately, I haven't pick up a Scottish accent yet. So demo audio har. Actually there's not much Scottish people to learn from, so i'll see how it goes and till then, baa woof!

Edinburgh post!

Hello all!

^Wings of Desire^ will be down for a couple of months because the blog owner has only dial up internet for the following 3 months. But since I managed to steal some unsecured wireless network, update now lar. hahaha

How are you all in Malaysia? Do you miss me? Lol ok joking. Ei Lin sorry I can’t really talk to you on Wednesday because I have to really rush to pack and go to the airport. Anyways, I’m in Edinburgh now. The weather here is not that great. Drizzles, drizzles and more drizzles almost everyday. And if you get lucky, you might have a bright sunny day! It is quite cooling though and can be pretty cold too. Since it is Summer now, the sun shines everyday for about 18 hours! It gets really really bright at 5am (just imagine 12pm sun) and for some reason, I just wake up at 6am everyday. Probably its due to the sun thing. Eh does this mean that I am photosensitive? Or my Circadian rhythm is based on the sunlight? Hahaha I dunno also

It's now approximately 8am in Edinburgh and looks misty outside. Here's a view from the dining table where I type this letter now:
View from the dining table and the living room

On not so misty days:
Sunset view from the same window

Actually it will look nicer if you are sitting in my position now. It overlooks some old building which I dunno what is that. hahaha

The landscape here is pretty different too. It has a very interesting combination of nature (hills and more hills), old historic buildings and the new ones. All of them seemed out of place, but you will be surprised how well they compliment each other. Well that will be another post about the city. Here's a sneak preview of the city:
View of Old town from the Information Centre

Somewhere in the city, dunno what it is yet. Yes I'm a lousy tourist, don't even know where am I going to.

I do not have most of the pictures at the moment but for the main purpose of this entry... which will be about my 1st packed lunch in UK, Yan Leng will have the honour of appearing in my blog. hahaha

And so... the 2 little kids (or that's how Yan Leng's uncle labelled us) packed their very own lunch out to makan on the 3rd day of their arrival. This was taken on Carlton Hill, which is a hill right in the middle of the city. Good view from here. I can see the whole Edinburgh (ok almost): historical Old Town (like its name, means old old buildings), the modern New Town, the hills and the SEA! Now where can I get that type of view in Notts? Basically if you simply walk around, you will find something historical or really beautiful views. For example, when I go for grocery shopping in the nearest Sainsbury's, I will pass by Steward-Melville College, a very very old college. My god it looks so Harry Potter-ish! Now I understand why people like to walk around here. How can I do that in Malaysia? Sure kena rob lar. hahaha

Anyways, presenting...

Octopus-pitta!
Grab yourself a healthy and nutritious Octopus-pitta today! For a limited time period, you can have it for GBP2.99 only*! Hurry while stock lasts!

Lol it is just some egg sandwich. And it doesn't cost that much. Lol but our presentation is really good. Leave a comment and tell me what do you think about it.

Ok I don't know what to write already with my limited pictures. Will update soon if I can. On 2nd July I'll have to go to Newcastle for some briefing. Hopefully everything will turn out to be perfect. Tilll then, baa woof! Thank you for supporting ^Wings of Desire^!

PS: I still can't speak in a Scottish accent. Learning it. Unfortunately, not many Scottish actually live here. Dunno where they all go lar. Malaysia perhaps? lol

About the chinese words above

This is for the benefit of my non-mandarin speaking friends.

The chinese characters found on the top of the layout basically means (according to verse):

    Secretly I left,
    Just as secretly as I came;
With a flicker of my sleeve (I departed)*,
Without bringing away a wisp of crimson cloud.
