Ok time to write my way overdue UK trip report.
For those who don’t know, I went to Bradford, UK in April to attend a pharmacy students’ conference. I’m too lazy to tell everyone how was the trip so I decided to blog it here.
Day 1
I almost forgot to bring my jacket!! Ahhhh clumsy me! Anyways, landed Manchester at about 5.30pm. After we’ve claimed our luggage and send Szu Lyn off to her auntie, we checked into Aurora Hotel. Whoa, this is my first time staying in a 5 star hotel in Manchester. How was it like? Superb! The lift to all the rooms can only be called using swipe cards (anti-terrorism measure, I guess). The best part was… the bed was SUPER DUPER HUGE! 2 king size beds for me and Hwee Yin with loads and loads of soft, cushiony pillows! No pics of the beds though coz Hwee Yin’s memory card went crazy so we have to reformat it. Haha and the bathroom was well-lit with speakers inside too. Lol so if I watch porn in the room, then Hwee Yin also can know too. Of course I won’t watch lar, I’m so cute and innocent :-P
Anyways, after we’ve settled our stuff, we decided to take a walk in the city. It was 6.30pm. Hwee Yin and I somehow expected the weather to be cooling, but it turned out to be VERY VERY COLD. Brr…. I was freezing. It’s supposed to be Spring! Omg and I didn’t bring enough warm clothing coz I didn’t expect that. The streets, unlike Malaysian streets were very quiet. Our tummies were complaining a bit so we decided to get some food too. Since our hotel was right next to Chinatown, we headed there first. But, the food was very expensive. GBP5.00 for a bowl of noodles/char koay teow/ fried rice. Whoa so ex ler. So after considering that we will be well fed during our conference, we decided to have something cheap and light for dinner. So, we went to the Asia supermart (for some reason, they gave student discounts and we managed to use our UNiM cards) and bought some instant noodles. Whoa you should see the variety of noodles they have. Abalone lar, Nissin lar, way a lot. But they don’t have Tung-Yi yee mee though. No wonder my brother requested me to bring him that.
So dinner settled. I wanted to get an O2 sim card, so since it’s still early for us (maybe not for the Brits), we went on walking and walking. And seriously I don’t know where am I walking also. Haha luckily Hwee Yin was there, if not I sesat jalan already and still stuck in Manchester right now. Then, we saw Mark & Spencer. Since we have nothing to do, we went in. Wow, you should look at the frozen food section. They have basically everything for TV dinners: from complicated roasted lamb chop to simply pasta salad. Seriously we wanted to buy all of that coz they all look delicious. But then, we realized something. We don’t have a microwave! Lol so we bought cold pasta (1 smoked Scottish salmon, 1 honey with mustard chicken) and 1 sinfully delicious Chocolate Overload. The instant noodles? Aiya keep it lar. Lol and it was yummy! The Chocolate Overload was sooooooo rich that I felt like I was in heaven when it melted in my mouth. Just some pics to get your amylases flowing…

On your left: Salmon, right is the chicken

The Sinful Chocolate Overload!

OIIIIIIIIIIIISHI DESU NE!

As you can see, they even provide us cute teddy bear cups as shown in the pic. Cute or not?? Ok that’s end of day 1. Oh yeah, I had nasty rashes all over my body but good thing was it’s hidden and not itchy. I guess I’m allergic to the wine served on the plane. Szu Lyn thinks I had cold rash. I don’t know which is the culprit, but I declared myself as alcohol allergic. That’s a very miserable thing to have in that country because their social life involves lots of drinking. But for this trip, it’s a blessing in disguise. Read on my future entries for the reason I said that.
